Someone asked the other day about energy healing for his pet.  The answer is a resounding yes!  Reiki is helpful for all living things.  Your pets, other domestic animals, and even plants can be treated with Reiki.  Thre are some practitioners who specialize in treating animals.  One lady near me is particularly fond of treating horses.  They respond well to Reiki.

If you already practice Reiki, but have never worked with animals, there are a few things to remember.  First, you can't explain to the animal what you are going to do and some animals are shy around strangers.  In the case of dogs or cats, you may be able to simply pick them up or hold them in your lap while you allow the Reiki energy to flow.  Some may be more comfortable if their owners hold them.  If they are very frightened, it is easier to use Distance Healing, even if you are right there with the animal. 

With large animals, such as horses, you may be able to do a hands on treatment with no problem.  They are used to being handled by different people.  Remember to keep safe!  Distance healing is always an option.

Second, smaller animals like cats or chihuahuas are too small to do all the hand psitions.  It is easier, and just as effective, to find a comfortable position for your hands and just allow the Reiki to flow. 

In general, I have found that my dog is easier to treat than most of my cats have been.  He really seems to enjoy the feeling.  While some of my cats have been fine with it, and one absolutely loved it, others have been just a bit suspicious.  One or two have been adamantly opposed to any hands on treatment.  For the ones who enjoy it, I give them a treatment treat on a regular basis, hands on.   For the others, I use distance healing less often, or for one, only when he is in need.

Reiki is a wonerfulful healing modality, as are other energy healing paths.  Find a practitioner you like and give it a try.
